Flailbot
Our remote-controlled flail mower allows us to tackle overgrown areas, regardless of how steep, uneven, or high the weeds are.
With three interchangeable head options, the flailbot can also perform tasks like stump grinding and removing shrubs and trees.
Paddock Maintenance
We provide services such as topping, chain harrowing, and rolling. Additionally, we can spray liquid fertilizer and selective herbicides to restore the paddock to its full potential. We also specialize in transforming overgrown scrubland into new paddocks.
Hedgerow Planting
Our countryside team has extensive experience in planting rural hedgerows across various settings, including country estates, field perimeters, and nature reserves.
We typically use a native six-tree hedge mix featuring plants like hazel, spindle, and dog rose. Additionally, we can rejuvenate existing hedges by replacing any dead or dying sections.
Hedgerow Maintenance
We can handle hedges of any size, shape, length, or height.
Our equipment includes flail hedge trimmers, conventional hedge trimmers, and sickle bar trimmers, which can be mounted on either large or compact tractors, depending on the job requirements. For particularly unruly hedges, we start with our cherry picker.
Weed Control
All our operatives are certified in weed control spraying. We use only approved chemicals: general herbicides for broad weed spraying and selective herbicides for spot applications on broadleaf weeds in grassy areas, ensuring the grass remains unharmed.
We can cover any area with our 350-litre tank and 5-metre boom sprayer, ideal for small fields or paddocks.
Pond & River Maintenance
We specialize in waterside weed control and collaborate closely with the Environment Agency when managing riverside weeds like Himalayan balsam.
Our riverbank maintenance typically includes strimming, which we conduct with great care to preserve biodiversity. Additionally, we help prevent riverbank erosion by planting willows.
Woodland Maintenance
JHM Grounds Care arborists are skilled in all aspects of woodland management, from visual inspection of trees to removing dead and diseased branches, or pruning trees using the most suitable methods.
Coppicing is a common woodland management technique that not only extends the life of trees but also increases woodland biodiversity.
Wildflower Meadows
Whether you have a small plot or a large field, we have the machinery to create and maintain wildflower areas.
We can transform an old paddock into a vibrant wildflower meadow by stripping it back to the earth and seeding it. Additionally, we can establish wildflower margins as eco-friendly habitats in new developments.
Seeding
Our countryside team has successfully created or restored numerous paddocks and fields through seeding and overseeding.
To ensure optimal growth, we start by rotovating and leveling the soil, followed by seeding and rolling it in. We typically use a wildflower mix or paddock mix for these projects.
Verge Maintenance
We utilize a range of tractors, mounted cutters, and strimmers to ensure we select the optimal combination for each type of verge. Our equipment includes a large tractor with a mounted flail hedge trimmer, a compact tractor with a mounted hedge trimmer, and several ride-on rough-cut mowers.
Vegetation Clearance
JHM Grounds Care possesses all the machinery and equipment required for clearing even the densest vegetation. Our remote-controlled flail mower provides fast and effective vegetation control on slopes up to 50 degrees and other challenging terrains. With different head options, it can also be used for stump grinding, as well as removing shrubs and trees.
