Open-Space Grass Cutting
Our extensive range of machinery ensures we always have the perfect mower for any task, whether it’s gang mowing for large recreation grounds, using cut-and-drop, or cut-and-collect for the specialized mowing of cricket pitches.
We also have a tractor equipped with turf tyres to prevent any damage to the grass.
Churchyard Grass Cutting
Mowing and strimming around graves require special attention, and our team works with care and sensitivity in churchyards and cemeteries, leaving areas for wildflowers where desired.
Your schedule is our schedule: we can mow once a week in the summer, or once a month, or 12 times a year to suit your needs.
Strimming
We have a variety of strimmers in different sizes to help maintain the tidiness of schools, council grounds, and cemeteries. Our team strims carefully around obstacles, along the edges of paths and graves, and over uneven terrain.
We frequently use battery-powered strimmers, particularly when working near classrooms and during exam season, to minimize noise levels.
Hedge Cutting
No hedge is too tall, too long, or too intricate for us. Our equipment includes long-pole and short-arm hedge-cutters, as well as a mobile raised platform for the tallest hedges. For extensive stretches, we have two sizes of tractors equipped with sidearm flails. We also specialize in cutting castellated hedges.
Please note, we do not cut hedges during the nesting season.
Leaf Control
We offer a variety of leaf blowers, including battery-powered options for quieter operation near sensitive areas like classrooms or offices.
When possible, we collect fallen leaves to allow them to mulch down. The resulting mulch is then used as compost on the beds the following year.
Weed Control
All our operatives hold the necessary spraying certificates for weed control. We use only approved herbicides and perform spot applications or boom spraying as needed.
Additionally, we are qualified in waterside weed control and collaborate closely with the Environment Agency when treating riverside weeds like Himalayan balsam.
Litter Picking
We provide a litter-picking service for school and council car parks, as well as large open public spaces. This service can be scheduled as frequently as needed: daily, weekly, or monthly.
Our team is trained in the safe removal and disposal of sharps, and we are also equipped to remove chewing gum.
Sports Pitch Maintenance
We have extensive experience in maintaining natural sports surfaces, including grass tennis courts, football pitches, cricket grounds, all-weather racetracks, hard tennis courts, and netball courts.
To keep grass surfaces in top condition, we perform regular maintenance such as overseeding, fertilizing.
Line Marking
Our team ensures that the lines on your grass and synthetic pitches are marked with clarity, precision, and speed, thanks to our advanced GPS system. Pitches can be resized to fit smaller areas, and custom text and logos can be uploaded and marked out for special events like school open days and sports days.
The efficiency and speed of this system minimize any disruption to the school day, and the exact locations of pitches can be saved and remarked annually.
Winter Gritting
JHM Grounds Care provides a winter gritting service, utilizing a temperature-monitoring system that allows our teams to promptly respond with gritting and de-icing whenever frost and ice are predicted.
Typically, this service is performed overnight to maximize protection and ensure that your operations can continue smoothly the next morning.
Snow Clearance
When it snows, our teams will clear your access roads and main footpaths.
Snow clearance complements our winter gritting service, which includes gritting and de-icing. This service is only activated when there is a high likelihood of snow or ice, ensuring you are not charged unnecessarily.
